By Arpita Jena

Welcome Digital Marketers!

The marketing domain evolved from the barter system to online business. Customers are now counted not by footfall but as visitors on the website.

In this dynamic world of marketing, there exist various trends, and out of which digital marketing and inbound marketing are two key concepts.

But what do these terms mean actually? And what difference do they have from one another?

First, let’s talk about digital marketing.

What is digital marketing?

It is a type of marketing that uses the internet and other online tools like SEO, PPC ads, social media, etc., to promote the product or service of any business to get customers.

Now, what is inbound marketing?

It is quite the opposite of digital marketing. Whereas digital marketing tries to excite the customer to buy fast, inbound marketing, on the other hand, offers valuable content. Inbound marketing tries to create value and relate with the customers so that they can have a hardcore loyal customer base naturally.

The main goal of digital marketing is to bring on results of their marketing campaign on an immediate basis. And that’s why they target a vast customer base to achieve their end goal quickly and in also in a more efficient manner.

All the strategies and tactics that are used in their marketing campaign are used with the aim to gain more customers which leads to more profits.

Digital marketing also involves paid promotions and other promotional activities just to attract more customers and make them aware of the product or service that the business is offering.

When compared to inbound marketing, it gives importance to building meaningful relations and trust with customers and understanding them.

This type of marketing is customer-oriented and value-based. They take into consideration what a customer wants and also focus on long-run relationship building with customers.

For example:

In Digital Marketing:

The marketer uses creative ads and tries to showcase the advantages of the products. They do this via social media, paid promotions, influencer marketing, etc., and attract vast audiences within a span of a short period.

However, In Inbound Marketing:

The marketer shares blogs or social media posts stating how and why consuming gluten-free and multi-grain baked products over the usual product is beneficial. They try to build loyalty among customers slowly so that the customers themselves will become the promoters of their product.

In this constantly changing world of digital marketing, the marketer is responsible for carefully and strategically choosing if they want to go with digital marketing or inbound marketing or maybe a combination of both for their brand.

However, no matter what strategy you use as a digital marketer providing value and cultivating relationships with the audience is important as they will take you a long way.
